- The Ordinary Plenary Session unanimously approved to grant its highest honorary title to the businessman, who served as mayor of the town of Salamanca for 16 years. - The mayor highlights his contribution to the development of Fuentes de Oñoro, as well as his leadership, honesty and dedication. - The awarding ceremony will take place on 24 May during the María Auxiliadora’s festivities.
The Ordinary Plenary Session of the town of Fuentes de Oñoro (Salamanca) approved, with the support of all political parties, the proposal of its mayoress to award this honorary title to Isidoro J. Alanís.
Among the merits included in the proposal are the 16 years of dedication as mayor of the town (from 2007 to 2023), and ‘to have contributed to the development of Fuentes de Oñoro, carrying out his duties with leadership, perseverance, optimism, enthusiasm, honesty, dedication and courage. He has always carried the name of our town, where he was born, very high wherever he has been’. The award ceremony will take place in the town of Salamanca on 24 May during the celebration of the festivities in honour of María Auxiliadora.Isidoro Alanís’ Social Relevance
Apart from being the founder of Global Exchange and CEO of the Company since 2008, Isidoro J. Alanís holds several important social positions such as President of Empresa Familiar de Castilla y León, member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Consejo Empresarial Alianza por Iberoamérica (CEAPI).
He represents Global Exchange as President of the Air Institute Foundation for research in artificial intelligence and computer science. He is also a member of the Council of Chambers of Commerce of Castilla y León, Honorary Trustee of the Siega Verde Foundation and member of the Alumni Advisory Board of the University of Salamanca.
As for awards and distinctions, in 2016 he received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Castilla y León, granted by the newspaper El Norte de Castilla, as well as the CEOE Castilla y León 2022 Award for the province of Salamanca and the Castilla y León Económica 2023 Award of Honour.Favourite Son, the highest honorary title
